Sustaining Intern

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

The Sustaining Intern located at our Global Headquarters in Michigan City, IN reports to our Sustaining Engineering Manager and is responsible for implementing manufacturing techniques in response to needs, specifications, and objectives established by the corporate and development organization.

A successful candidate will:
• Design mechanical or electrical aspects of new product projects including mechanical equipment, plastic mold design, die casting mold design, metal stamping dies, materials analysis, pneumatics, and hydraulics, diaphragms, with high geometric tolerance and dimension requirements and /or electrical equipment such as machine electronic design, electric panel layout, PCB layout, wiring harnesses, etc.
• Work with other engineers, drafters, model makers, and technicians to attain project objectives,
• Proficient in creating drawings, prints, bills of materials, or other documentation.
• Familiar with technical tools such as test equipment, computers, and related software. Ability to effectively use software productivity tools (word processors, spreadsheets, databases, etc.) as well as technical software tools (2-D and 3-D CAD/CAM, FEA, etc.)
• Express design ideas, processes and specifications in diagrammatic form as documents, drawings, prints or assemblies.
• Draft, detail, and edit data sheets, operations manuals and user manuals.
• Assist with experiments to demonstrate the precision, accuracy and stability of designs.

WHAT WE EXPECT
• Pursing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field of engineering.
• Previous internship experiences a plus.
• Basic knowledge of technology, principles, and general practice associated with engineering.
• Must be capable of successfully executing assigned tasks.
